This blog of mine has gone through many transformations – from a place to share my journey through an eight month intense yoga study to obtain my 200-hr Yoga Teacher certification, to a website advertising my freelance writing skills in hopes of rounding-up business, to this current page of sharing my love of baking, travel and sweet moments in life.
That’s not to say it won’t change again, but I feel very comfortable with where I am right now. So I’m thinking I’ll just stay here and see where it goes… go with the flow.
A little more about me personally…
I have a day job as a Surgical Manager of a very busy ophthalmic practice in Northeast Florida, USA. My days can be very long and tiring, leaving me little energy and time to sit down and add to this blog site. I find myself sharing more on Instagram ( @sweetandsabrie ) through the Stories and Timeline posts. But occasionally I’ll be inspired to add a little here, and so I’ll sit and write.
Ever since starting this blog, it’s been my goal to write more. Finding any kind of regularity is something I struggle with, as is hitting the “Publish now” button without reading my post several times over again (a fault of mine, being able to hit “publish” without feeling like it’s “perfect”… which is an unrealistic expectation, as we all know).
I’m a proud mom of 3 now teenage girls. As all of you parents know, witnessing a child’s growth from infancy through childhood is one like none other. Each child has their own story that holds such beauty and inspiration. And the uniqueness of each of our girls continues to fascinate me on the daily.
I am also the wife of a charming man who works on off-Broadway tours. Sure, it gets tough with him gone as much as he is, but I get to see lots of shows and visit many cities I’ve never been to as I go to where he is to refill my cup of Adam-love.
Which brings me to a fairly newfound love… travel. I love discovering new places and re-learning through every place I visit that people are essentially the same, no matter the latitude, longitude, or language. Everyone wants to feel heard, loved, and safe.
My love of baking came from a Netflix binge of The Great British Baking Show. Although completely inspired and enamored from the start, I was surprised to find baking to be quite the happy place for me. Speaking in a British accent and using words like, proving, icing sugar, and full-fat milk, I dream of traveling to the British Isles and taking a cooking class in a breathtaking chateau on the hills of some Scottish countryside or in busy, bustling downtown London. But … until then, I’ll bake away by the ways of Mary Berry and share my sweets with my husband who never lets me throw “bad bakes” away, my kids who ask for cupcakes or cookies nearly every weekend, and friends who graciously try recipes I’ve only made once.
So here’s to doing what you love and sharing it to connect with kindred spirits. Cheers! I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
