In the still of the morning
I see your beauty.
You dress in leaf after leaf
when just two weeks ago you were but bare, wispy limbs,
blowing in the wind.
I wondered if you’d come back,
or had you gone for good?
But you are a faithful friend
and a soulful being,
you awoke with gentleness
and keep growing ever more beautiful each and every day.
I know, because I am witness to it –
sitting here at my desk,
looking through the window just across from where you stand.
I’ve been lucky
these past couple of weeks
to be here and watch your return.
It has been reassuring.
It has been comforting.
Thank you for your soft strength.
Thank you for your homecoming.
