Weekly Intentions

My Week’s Intentions, 8

I had almost finished this blog post last week, but then I got side-tracked. My intent was to complete it the next day and post it, but it didn’t happen. So I’m picking up where I left off, nearly a week later…

My husband and I went to see Dave Matthews Band play their 2-night show in West Palm Beach this past weekend (actually, 2 weekends ago) and had a blast! Well, to be honest, my husband was more excited about catching lobster than DMB… but he was a great sport and battled the crowds with me and listened to 3 hours of total jam sessions each night. I loved the whole experience! The dual nights, the amped-up atmosphere, the open night sky, the dancing with friends… I’ve never done both nights, but I’ll definitely be doing it again!

It’s good to get out of town every now and then. I really should do it more often, even for short weekends somewhere close. The reset button is much easier to find with new air to breathe. I was even able to finish the book I’ve been reading, Circling the Sun – something that’s been on my list of intentions for several weeks now!

But now we head into a week of school orientations and well-check appointments. It’s back to school time for the kiddos! Where did this summer go?? I also have an appointment with our oldest daughter for her passport application this week. We’re planning a trip soon where she’ll need one (the other 2 are fine with birth certificates). Exciting stuff!

Last week’s intentions:

  • Take more tea/coffee breaks.
  • Spend time inside a coffee house, actually drinking the tea/coffee there:)
  • Find time every day to sit and relax, even just to breathe at the end of the day.
  • Enjoy my surroundings. Find something beautiful in every day objects.
  • Wake up (and this is a VERY tough one for me but so important, I feel) early enough to write a bit in my journal.
  • Prepare my lunches for the next day the night before. (This is mainly to help save money. It gets quite expensive to eat out for lunch every day.)

That was last week’s – this is now.

We’ve had a few set backs with school orientations that should be straightened out this week. I wish I had known this stuff earlier on in the summer – we’ve could’ve been working on it much sooner than this. Stressful times. But we’ll get it all worked out and all will be fine.

So for this week’s intentions:

  • Find time every day to sit and relax, even just to breathe at the end of the day.
  • Enjoy my surroundings. Find something beautiful in every day objects.
  • Wake up (and this is a VERY tough one for me but so important, I feel) early enough to write a bit in my journal.
  • Complete my daughter’s passport application.
  • Renew my driver’s license.
  • Register our oldest in a new school.
  • Get all final grades into the system so she can be “promoted” and enter the school of her choice (AND where she’s been accepted).
  • Make a belated birthday cake for me:) I’d love to try to mix in another of those lovely floral elixirs I have into my go-to cake recipe.
  • Take the girls for haircuts.
  • Shop for school supplies.
  • Do a little gardening to spruce up hedges.
  • Meet with a lovely friend of mine for coffee and catch-up.

Mantra for the week: Take it one thing at a time.
